Sowing the seed in Langkap

On the morning of Nov 28 last year, 15 Universiti Teknologi Malaysia students and staff traveled to Langkap, Perak for a seven-day mission trip. Praise the Lord, we had the opportunity to experience and witness His grace and blessings on Langkap.

 

On reaching Langkap Anglican Centre, we rested for a while before going on a Jericho Walk in the housing estates around the town. We prayed for the people and asked God to remove the power of darkness over the land.

 

In the following six days, we shared the Good News with the local people in various ways. During the day, we carried out door-to-door evangelism; at night, we went visiting and held three evangelistic meetings. We also got to help the church conduct a children's camp.

 

Although, we were rejected and even scolded by some people, we were not disheartened. We planted the seed of the Gospel in their hearts and God will surely make it grow one day. During this mission trip, we were very much encouraged by two youths from the church who joined us in going door to door come rain or shine. They also brought people to Christ. Wow, God even prepared the heart of someone who came to us, saying that he wanted to hear the Gospel!

 

We were also encouraged by the Christ-centered lives of the brothers and sisters from the church. There is an old man who is blind. He has memorized portions of the Scripture after listening to the Word. These beautiful lives are like a cloud of witnesses around us; we are spurred to run with perseverance the race marked out for us.

 

By God's grace, we managed to reach out to 310 people in Langkap. Of this, 161 heard the Gospel in its entirety, 30 prayed to accept Christ and five of the new believers are being discipled. All praise and glory to God!
